Abstract: Xu Bangda is a great master as to authenticate Chinese ancient calligraphy and paintings in the 20 century. So he is called "XuBanchi" and "national eyes". Xu Bangda has been authenticating Chinese ancient calligraphy and paintings for more than fifty years, and has seen millions works, in the meanwhile, Xu Bangda has also plentiful writings works, which has exceeded five millions of words. So Xu Bangda has acquired skyscraping leaning achievement in the field of identifying Chinese ancient calligraphy and paintings.The research regarding to Xu Bangda has been started from 1990s, and the research is centralized mostly in his story of his life, and once in a while is touched his measure in identifying ancient books and paintings. However, generalizing all the research content, to his achievement in the measure of identifying Chinese ancient calligraphy and paintings, our research is neither deep and complete enough.As a great master in the fold of identifying Chinese ancient calligraphy and paintings in 20 century, Xu Bangda's learning achievement has also shown his judicious judgment beyond his compeer.
