There has been traditional friendship between China and Pakistan, which are both great countries with a long history and brilliant culture. But deeply influenced by Confucianism, Chinese culture varies greatly from Pakistani culture which is basically molded by Islamism. This thesis, departing from the perspective of intercultural communication, based on the pertinent theories of Edward Hall and Geert Hofstede, and drawing on the methods of questionnaire analysis, field observation and in-depth interview, for the first time carefully examines the communication reality between the Chinese and the Pakistanis, compares the differences in their concepts of time, sex, hierarchy and morality as well as in the ways of thinking and expression, and finally analyses the impacts of these cultural varieties on the communication between the Chinese and the Pakistanis. The conclusion of this thesis is as following:1.In the communication between people from the two countries, 88% of the interviewed Chinese are ever dissatisfied with Pakistanis, while 80% of the interviewed Pakistanis were are dissatisfied with Chinese. With the increase of communication, the degree of satisfaction from both parts declines. 2.In six dimensions are manifested the cultural varieties between the Chinese and the Pakistanis, which are the main causes of the dissatisfaction of communication.
