Pure Love is luxurious and distant for many people now. With fast-paced life and prevailing materialism, love has been painted with more and more utilitarian color and lost the basic meaning of itself.This thesis describes the unavoidable tragic qualities of love in four chapters:The first part is about the love values shadowed by destiny. It analyzes the love values through the destiny views of ancient Greek.The second part is about the visualized symbol and moral of tragic love. It reveals the tragic quality of love itself by analyzing the image of Cupid the god of love and the Zeus's morals on love and marriage.The third part is about the tragic qualities of love. It sums up four tragic qualities of love by analyzing many Greek myths and legends.The fourth part is a reflection on the tragic qualities of love. It makes a profound study on the tragic qualities of love in four sections. We should not stop seeking love even though it is tragic, because love is both a symbol of devil and a embodiment of angel. Love represents the life force of human being, we should rationally treat the tragic qualities of love. Love is the dance of life. It is beautiful but could not get rid of its tragic qualities. So love is a dance in chains.
