The Comparative Between The Chinese Roll Grass Pattern And The Arabesque In A.D. 7-10 Century

In the development progress of different period,clime and nation,human beings have created a common art form which is decorative art. In decorative art,plant pattern is an important kind of decorative theme. The roll grass pattern of the plant pattern,which had been the rage in the east of the world in A.D.7-10 Century was the main pattern in decorative area not only in China but also in Arabian empire.Before Buddhism was introduced into China, human beings and animals were the main ornament subjects. With the opening of the Silk and the increasing of cimmunication with worldwild, the plant pattern in Buddhism were introduced into China, there appeared a great variety of plant patterns, just like honeysuckle and lotus flower,which turned to become popularized in the dynasties of Wei, Jin and Tang in China. Dynasty Tang, the A.D.7-10 Century,especially, saw the pattern of Tangcao which is thought to be perfect in artistic form. In the A.D.5-6 Century before the upbuilding of Islam, Arabia was influenced by two forces which were Byzantine Empire and Sasan Empire. Though Syrian desert,Arabia cut in Egypt and Babylon which are the cradle of the oldest civilization inthe world. The seaway of south Arabia is at the India,which is the third oldest cradle of civilization .Because the legitimacy Islam strictly prohibited idolatry, opposed describing human and animal concretely,in A.D.10 Century, the abstractive curve pattern based on plant and geometry patterns became the extrusive character of Arabian Islamic art. Arabian Islamic patterns had extracted the distillate of the world's decorative arts,just like the curve style of the roll grass pattern and the symbolize of Persia patterns, that developped a school of it's own Arabesque.This paper mainly through the comparative research between the Chinese Roll Grass Pattern and the Arabesque in A.D. 7—10 Century,deeply excavates the effect of their respective culture to their respective decoration art;simultaneously through comparing their differences,also search the mutual comunication and colliding in different culture. The researching of different culture and art can enlarge our sight, discover and absorb the outsea culture. It can also help us to find a good point for the culture exchanging between china and other countries.
