Opera Savage Land is the classical one in the music field. Its success lies on the wonderful expression of personae's sophisticated mood through movement, aria and performance. The opera leaves distinctive images which are artistic and realistic as well upon the audience. The thesis makes the leading lady Jin Zi be the object of study and it deeply analyzes the characters. The thesis is divided into five chapters.The first chapter is introduction, which tells us the study purpose, significance and the present situation of the study.The second chapter gives a general discuss about the opera. It is divided into three parts. The first part expresses the creative background from the historical angle. The second part analyzes the music features and the structure of the plot. Then the last part expresses the influence and significance for the development of Chinese opera.The third chapter is the most important one of all the chapters. It analyzes the image of Jin Zi from various angles. This chapter is divided into two parts. One analyzes Jin Zi's artistic image from both her dramatic image and music image. The other one affords the singing handle of Jin Zi including the demand for the tone, volume, timbre, breath and shape of her body, etc.The forth chapter analyzes aesthetic value of Jin Zi's image. The chapter is divided into two parts. The first one explains the relationship between the opera image and the aesthetic value, and the second one analyzes the aesthetic value of Jin Zi's image including both aspects of lofty and tragedy.The fifth chapter is conclusive word. It applies the author's own accumulation and comprehension to interpret the character of Jin Zi in this opera.
