During the octennial Anti-Japanese War, the Kuomintang(KMT) resisted against the enemies of Japan directly in the battlefront as well as in the enemy's rear area by bushfighting. The guerrilla was not a military tactical action by chance, which had a comparatively scientific process of being produced, developing, forming and being confirm in the end. This article will discuss the enemy's rear area of the KMT from five aspects. The first chapter discusses the emergence of idea of the enemy's rear area. Some mans of insight in the government of KMT had suggested employing bushfighting to assist the regular battle against enemies soon after the September 18th incident. Later in the 1937's, the Military Commission of KMT held a meeting in Wuhan, and established the strategic status of bushfighting, which powerfully boosted the development of the bushfighting in the enemy's rear area. The military conference of Nanyue finally formed the strategy that developing the bushfighting in the enemy's rear area with the core of long anti-Japanese battle, whose forming symbol was the book of"bushfighting compendium"compiled by the KMT's military training department. The second chapter discusses the ebb and flow of the enemy's rear area of KMT. The guerrilla in the enemy's rear area was at low ebb in the end, whose base against enemies lost subsequently, and the partisan became puppet army, however, the enemy's rear area played a very important role among the whole process Anti-Japanese War, whose effect cannot be ignored. Some areas such as the enemy's rear area in the second war zone of Shanxi tied the Japanese enemies down, and cooperated with the frontal battlefield. The third chapter discusses the relationship of the enemy's rear area between the KMT and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). In the enemy's rear area, the two party's armed forces went hand in hand and with Friction, that is, combination and fighting. On the premise that the Sino-Japanese contradiction was always the main contradiction of Chinese nation, cooperation of the KMT and CCP to resist against Japan was the characteristic and mainstream during the course of Anti-Japanese War. In the enemy's rear area, they cooperated, assisted and depended on each other, which held a dominant station throughout the whole process of Anti-Japanese War, while the contradiction and struggle between them took second place. The fourth chapter discusses the position and effect of the enemy's rear area of the KMT. Firstly, the guerrilla campaign played some role for containment and Dispersion enemy's forces, also for coordinate with the main battlefield, and for persistence in the long time war of resistance. Secondly, the policy of guerrilla is the decision of the KMT, also is the product of war of attrition and persistence, and the same time the partisan tactics enriched the Chinese modern Military Thoughts. Thirdly, the start of guerilla warfare guaranteed the operation of the KMT regime in the enemy's rear area, and held the morale in the occupied areas. Fourthly, the development of KMT's guerrilla coordinated with the development of CCP's guerrilla in a given period and in a certain extent. Fifthly, it dealt well with relationship between national contradiction and class conflict. Sixthly, it was twofold, on the one hand, it's positive, on the other hand, was negative. The fifth chapter of conclusion discusses the different fate of the guerrilla between two parties. This article will discuss the reason from the following tree aspects: firstly, from the attention two parties paid to the guerrilla; secondly, from the battle route, thirdly, from the quality of soldiers. Of course, the Kuomintang's battle route depended only on the government and army, who depart from the masses, and they dared not mobilize and depend on the masses to resist enemies Japanese, which is the root of the loss of the KMT's armies.
