Study Issues Of 'Xinqin' And 'Xinqin Zhong' During Qinhuang Hanwu Period

The concepts of 'Xin Qin' or 'Xin Qin Zhong' firstappeared during the Qin and Han dynasty in ancient China andsince then they were widely used to represent a specificgeographical area in the north part of China. The west part ofInner Mongolia, also known as E' erduosi nowadays, as well asthe adjacent Houtao area in Bayannao'er and some small partsin NingXia and ShanBei province, forms the main scope of 'XinQin' or 'Xin Qin Zhong' region. Because of its speciallocation, nature environment, and human and culture history,the area played a very important role in history and militarystrategy, and also became a winning key during the battlebetween Central dynasty and Nomads. Historians have made hugestudy efforts and wrote plenty of works about the history of 'Xin Qin' or 'Xin Qin Zhong' region as they think it is oneof the most important parts in the history of the relationshipbetween Central dynasty and Nomads. Based on the studies ofthree historical events: 1) King QinZhao built the Great Wall in defence of the Hu's invaders 2) First Emperor of Qin'sstrategies and developments to 'Xin Qin' or 'Xin Qin Zhong'and 3) Emperor Wu of Han's managements afterwards, thisarticle explains the reasons and steps how 'Xin Qin' or 'XinQin Zhong' region became the relatively independent geographyunits and differently historical profiles under two differentgovernments of Qinhuang and Hanwu, and also explains thedifferent achievements to 'Xin Qin' and 'Xin Qin Zhong'under two different developmental strategies of First Emperorof Qin and Emperor Wu of Han. Importantly this article clarifiesthat 'Xin Qin' and 'Xin Qin Zhong' are two different termsin the history even though they are used to represent the samearea in many occasions. Evidence from First Emperor of Qin'sand Emperor Wu of Han's history shows that 'Xin Qin' and 'Xin Qin Zhong' have their independent meanings, origins andusages and these two concepts should not be mixed when referring.The idea of differentiating these two history terms in thisarticle would help to clear the existing questions andconfusions of 'Xin Qin' and 'Xin Qin Zhong' amonghistorians.
