Lolita is the most representative and controversial work of the famouscontemporary Russian-American writer Vladimir Nabokov. The thesis attempts toanalyze the "uncertainty" feature of Lolita in the postmodern context by deliberatingon Nabokov's literary concept and his aesthetics.Introduction of the thesis outlines the life and the works of Vladimir Nabokovand the research of Lolita as well.Chapterâ… is designed to give an overview of the "uncertainty" of post-modernliterature. It mainly analyzes the definition, causes and manifestations of the"uncertainty" of post-modern literature. At the same time it discusses the performanceof aesthetic characteristics on the basis of the uncertainty of reality and language.Chapterâ…¡analyzes the "uncertainty" feature of reality in the post-modernliterature Lolita. Nabokov thought that reality is "subjective" and the nature ofliterature is fictive. While the author offers a vague view of novels by artisticconstructs such as characters, plot structure and thematic meaning, he also shows hisself-operation by exposing the fictitious narrative means, thus revealing the fictivenature of the novel.Chapterâ…¢analyzes the "uncertainty" feature of the language in Lolita from theperspective of Nabokov's "Butterfly Aesthetics". Nabokov holds that nature is afraud and that literature is a deceptive game. On one hand, the author enjoys himselfin the language game by the traditional literary parody; on the other hand, the authorexposes the feature of the word game in the post-modern literature by using thename game and the skills of coincidence.The conclusion deals with the aesthetic significance of "uncertainty" feature ofLolita.
