This paper makes use of the comparative literature theories and thecomparative literature methods that we study to analyze the differencesand similarities between Gothic literature and the Chinese newswordsmen literature with the method of impact studies, parallel studiesand text analysis. The Chinese new swordsmen literature had notinfluenced by foreign Gothic literature directly but through a media to theunderstanding and study of the creative Gothic writing techniques andskills. From an artistic angle, the foreign Gothic literature writers and thenew swordsmen literature writers tend to create thrilling, horrifying anddark literary atmosphere and they all like to use dark and terrible, dirtybasement, full of blood prison as the background of a story. Many storiesall occur in gloomy night. From the narrative skill angle, they are allclever storytellers with storytelling skills, and they can use the bizarretwists and turns of the story to attract more readers. From the businessangle, they pay special attention to business and money. They care howmuch they earn from the novel. Novels are also means to make a living.As a novelist they have professional skills, their writing greatly enhancethe skills of new swordsmen literature, develop and perfect a uniquestyle, thus making a great contribution to literature. From the creation offigure, the Gothic writers are good at describing bizarre characters,characters with outlandish behavior than ordinary people and the fantasticcharacter and the most remarkable figures are often negative characters.These kinds of characters give readers a strong boost. Another pointwhich should pay attention is that literary development reflects a generalrule: the literature of different countries had grown the same path. Thepopular works develops elite ones. The popular literature and the eliteliterature promote but conflict each other during their process. Sometimes they come into an integration. The elite literature provides the instructionfor the popular literature, the popular literature has become the eliteliterature's source and foundation actually.
