The Study On Turfan Dialect Vocabulary In Case Of Etymology

Study on the Etymology of Uighur dialect vocabulary is an important component of the study of Uighur dialect words, it has great significance in the study of Uighur lexicology, although Uighur dialect studies are already in a fairly matured stage, etymological studies of dialect words have been neglected so far. As an important part of Uighur dialect words, words in Turfan dialect account for a considerable amount in Uighur dialect words, however the studies on them are scant. this article, On the basis of the research done by others, classifies Turfan dialect words on account of their origin and does etimological research on these words using books concerning ancient Uighur published both at home and abroad. This article consists of four parts. The first part is preface which mainly discusses the significance of studies of Turfan dialect words, state of current research, and the methods used in this article. The second part deals with the division of Uighur dialects, the place of Turfan dialect in contemporary Uighur.The third part classifies some selected words into several catagories on the basis of word origin as following: words originated from ancient Uighur, words already existed since the ancient times, loan words. On this basis I did research on the etymology of words from ancient Uighur, and stated the features of loan words and words that existed since the ancient times. the last part is conclusion, in which I summerized inovative ideas stated in this article, and its shortcomings.
