Abnormal psyche, originally a concept of science, when examined and defined from the perspective of the humanities, rises to become writers'creative motive and the special object of emotional expression, enriched by humane insights and transcending cultural and regional boundaries. As an object of aesthetic appreciation, abnormal psyche helps to expand the aesthetic horizon, constitutes a carrier of aesthetic emotion and therefore highlights its own spiritual and cultural values.Abnormal psyche is fully depicted and revealved in the works by Zhang Ailing, a female writer of the early 20th century in China. In her works, Zhang Ailing exposes the effects of the subconscious personality disorder on the development and formation of one's personality by analyzing the spiritually abnormal mind with personality disorder and describing the eccentric behavior caused by sexual deviation. Zhang Ailing, while depicting the psychological deviation and abnormalities of ordinary people in feudal society of old China ,with a view to making a penetrating analysis of society and reflecting the reality of history, offers an explanation of the effect of abnormal psyche on the creation of a literary text. Readers may discover and feel, in Zhang's works, otherwise unusually unknown areas of life, and can't help contemplating the social, historical, and cultural causes leading to sexual deviation. As a descendant of an eminent family, Zhang Ailing feels more deeply the sense of loss and spiritual desolation in a life of luxury, which she pours our into her literary works. Zhang's works bear the mark of spiritual trauma she suffered in her childhood. The absence of particular experiences stripped her of the good and beautiful qualities of human nature, exposing to her the cold ruthless, and selfish side of human nature. That is why she focuses on the abnormal psyche in her works.Rather than confining her works simply to the mere depiction of abnormality, Zhang Ailing approaches the problem of abnormal psyche from historical and social perspectives, probing and profoundly criticizes the historical and social factors leading to abnormal psyche. She integrated her writing techniques with the theme of abnormal psyche, and poetically tells her stories to reveal her sadness inflicted upon her by the miseries in life. What is unique about her stories is the effective of images. Zhang's depiction of abnormal psyche deepens and enriches the inner world of her characters, thus converting them from ordinary persons into elusive and repulsive characters with special psyche and eccentric behaviour .
