The Desirous Narrative Of Chinese Novel In 1990's

The transitional step of Chinese society was further accelerated in 1990's . With the effect of the commercial economy on every aspect of our social life and the infiltration of the Western "post-modern" ideological thoughts, Chinese people's ideas and values were generally experiencing a profound change. Under such a context, as a literary phenomenon of the end of the century, tremendous changes happened in the novels in 1990's strikingly. Desirous narrative has become the most powerful narrative rule of the novels in 1990's. From the "new realism" and the "Younger generation" to the "new breed literature", we found that the authors were keen to describe the desire to a large extent, which is the most spectacular scenery of the current literature.Therefore, this article from the angel of the desire, expounded and analyzed the desirous narrative in both the theoretical level and the empirical level. The article has three parts: The first part described the patterns of the desirous narrative in the novels from material description and Sexual description. The second part analyzed the causes of the desirous narrative. Desirous narrative is an irresistible and unavoidable phenomenon in the history of Chinese contemporary literature , and it had become the important feature and the core themes of the novels in 1990's, because it is inseparable with the promoting of the market economy, the infiltration of Western "post-modern" ideological thoughts, the digestion of writer's elite consciousness and the needs of readers. The last part of paper evaluated the desirous narrative. We should have an objective and impartial evaluation to the trend of the desirous narrative. On one hand, we have to accept the social fact, admit the desirous narrative reasonable ; on the other, we have to keep a sober mind, always be aware of the constraints of the desirous narrative. Faced with the limitations of the desirous narrative, the novelist of the new century must upgrade from the very superficial sensory demonstration in artistic techniques , and make the desirous narrative achieve a new artistic support, develop a new paradigm. Literature should also have the ultimate concern to human beings in the spirit, otherwise people will sink into the abyss of greed and indulgence .
