Identity is an everlasting theme in literature. The question of identity and belonging looms large when it comes to the displaced people who integrate into more than one culture. As one of the most successful works of Chinese-American literature, The Joy Luck Club resonates for readers of all backgrounds and receives a series of awards and reviews. The research on the identity issue in the novel is not only imperative in the academic fields, but also significant in the context of cosmopolitanism. This thesis analyzes the Chinese-American women's identity crisis, reasons of identity crisis and the reconstruction of identity mainly from the perspective of cultural criticism and post-colonialism, which may shed some lights on other diasporas in reflecting on their identity issue and their identity reconstruction.
