ShiTuo's Novel And The Literature Of Japan-occupied Shanghai

The Anti-Japanese War divided the territory of China into the area of resistance against Japan and Japan-occupied area. What kind of pose the literature is actually when Shanghai was subjugated? Can we find out some representative writers and works that lead us get to know the appearance, characteristics and the develop alignments of the literature of Japan-occupied Shanghai. ShiTuo——the writer who was the witness of the period that Shanghai was subjugated and still persevered with the literature creations——provide us with the basic point that consider this problem. This thesis tries to discuss the ShiTuo's novel creations in the subjugated Shanghai in order to investigate some basic characteristics and develop alignments of the literature of Japan-occupied Shanghai. For the sake of the convenience of discussion, the thesis author divided Japan-occupied period of Shanghai into the earlier stage and later stage by the boundary of the " isolated island" disappearance, the fact of" isolated island" existence provide the basis for this. From here, literature of Shanghai and ShiTuo's novel creations were also divided into the earlier stage and later stage correspondly. This thesis will discuss this problem from three aspects. The first, discusses ShiTuo's novel creations in the earlier stage of the Japan-occupied Shanghai. ShiTuo's novel creations presented the diverse trend because of the existence of" isolated island".He wrote the collected short stories《anonymous person》,also stretched to the deep memory, created a novel《Malan》that described an woman named Malan's fate. This novel material was on the base of his experience that he had took part in"the big allies of anti-imperialist " He had wrote the novelette《the lord of the hopeless village》that reflected the life of lords in the Central plains ,and he started to write the series of short stories《the orchard city》.These novels displayed that ShiTuo exerted himself to prosper the Anti-Japanese and patriotic literature. Second, discusses ShiTuo's novel creations in the later stage of the Japan-occupied Shanghai. The literature creations had already impossible had something to do with the Anti-Japanese War. ShiTuo's novels presented the writing trend to the two utmost point. On the one hand, the pressure of the living made ShiTuo turn to the popular depiction, ShiTuo's novel《wilderness》(not finished) that described bandits in the periodical《all things of the universe》,at the same time, he concerned the citizenry's daily life of Shanghai ,so wrote the nove《lmerry》that reflected the important influence of the war to the common daily life. On the other hand, he also guarded securely the literature dream in his heart, completed the series of short stories《the orchard city》that reflected the local life in the Central plains .These novels displayed ShiTuo made great efforts to uphold the the pure of the national literature. Third, discusses ShiTuo's novels and the development of the Shanghai literature in the subjugated period. .From《Malan》that described popularly the legend experience of Malan to《merry》that concerned citizenry's daily life of Shanghai, this kind of creations inclination actually represented the daily-life creation current of Shanghai literature in the Japan-occupied period. ShiTuo imaged the orchard city as the representatives of all the small Chinese cities in《the orchard city》, on a certain degree, the orchard city culture informed from this novel was the symbol of the Chinese culture.
