This paper conducts a systematic investigation on the translation of modifiers in English considering the status quo that the investigation on modifiers in English from the perspective of translation is neither systematic nor theoretical although a great deal of investigation has been made in this field from the perspective of linguistics.Based on the author's studies on modifiers in English and supported by Chomsky's Theory on Deep Structure and Surface Structure, Nida's Views on Translation and Han Zhonghua's Double-channel Transmission of Message, this paper puts forward three translation strategies in terms of meaning, form and style (conveying meaning through conceptualization and contextualization; restructuring form through lexical conversion and order rearrangement; and reproducing style through naturalization), and applies the three strategies to the practice of translating modifiers in English.Chapter One analyzes the status quo of studying modifiers in English through reviewing relevant achievements in the past and listing major problems in this field. Chapter Two is about the author's previous studies on modifiers. In this chapter the author creatively defines "modifier" by means of "modifiee" and scientifically classifies "modifier" in terms of form, modifiee and function.
