Study On Relationship Between Clan And Country Society In South Jiangsu Province During Qing Dynasty

Clan is a social basic level organization that exists more and catholically in the Chinese traditional society, it has long development history and deep cultural contents, palying important function in Chinese traditional country society. Because the Chinese civilization is agriculture civilization with long history and bright luster, therefore, it has the important function doubtless for understanding the Chinese civilization and traditional society.Because the development of the clan is unbalanced and disunities all over the country, district research becomes a common method. And the clan experienced several development stages in progress, so choosing one or several dynasties to research is also necessary. If we want to more thorough and more delicately analysis the clan's influence in one area, it is more appropriate to adopt the method of case study. Therefore, I selected Yun clan of WuJin to study with the method of history as major, combining the research method of other courses, such as sociology and anthropology, etc., through investigating the Yun clan's life and activity in the country society, reveal the relationship between the development of clan and the transition of country society in JiangSu province during Qing dynasty.In early Qing Dynasty, the development of clan got the acknowledgement of the government, but medium and later stage in Qing dunasty, the ruler showed two-sided attitude to the clan power: both depended and repressed. although on the relation between political power and the clan power, they made every effort to hold balance, clan was gradual to act on the country society as a basic organization.
