The Study On Wang Tongling's Historical Thoughts

Wang Tongling(1878-1953), is a famous historian of modern China. He studied abroad in Japan twice. He wasn't only one of first batch foreign students of Peking Normal University, but also the first historical scholar who graduated officially from the overseas. After returning homeland, he taught at Peking Higher Normal University. He once was appointed history department head, meanwhile, he taught the Chinese history and the toyoshi curriculums successively. During his 40 years teaching career, he made certain contributions to history education. He had many history works, especially, "Chinese History" and "Chinese National History" two books had many editions, which became representative works in the Chinese history and the Chinese national history fields at that time .The books had great influence to the complete history and the national history research.By reading Wang Tongling's file, works and other related historical data, the article uses the text analysis method to emphasize introducing "Chinese History" and "Chinese National History" two books. It attempts to present Wang Tongling's academic achievement comprehensively, analyze his history viewpoints and the research methods, appraise Wang Tongling objectively, and give the appropriate localization to him in modern Chinese historiography.Basic structure and contents arrangement are as follows : The first part generally introduces Wang Tongling's life and his historiography works, The second part lists the achievements and characteristics of "Chinese History", it elaborates mainly from the content characteristics and the theory method two aspects. The third part introduces the national history research and the achievements. At first it analyzes the backgrounds of national history research, then elaborates the national history research process of Wang Tongling, finally, by three "Chinese National History" comparison, shows his achievements in the national history research. The fourth part appraises his contributions to the Chinese history and the Chinese national history research.
