The concept Chaos has been born ever since the ancient times, while its usage is in chaos. In Tao Te Ching by Lao Tzu, the word 'hundun' varies in single-syllable characters, but the concept of great significance failed to catch the attention of the scholars specializing in Taoism. There are many people have the faith that the universe comes from Chaos, and Chaos has been the essential content of the myths and value of universe for the entire world. Originally Chaos was symbolized by the image of god with mortal characters in ancient myths and values of universe, while it was described in Holy Bible, which made it negative in western culture. In Tao Te Ching by Lao Tzu, the concept chaos was transferred in to a term of philosophical implication with its root in the myths about Chaos. In Tao Te Ching by Lao Tzu, the word chaos is a descriptive concept which does not only refer to the origin of universe but also the ideal personality and spiritual pursuit. As a directive concept, Chaos is regarded as rules for individual and group to survive. The analysis on the concept chaos in Tao Te Ching by Lao Tzu offers a new perspective to understand the great works, which is rewarding to the realistic situation.
