T'ang novel is conscious creation of T'ang literators. T'ang literators indited many plangent stories of marriage and love on the basis of former generations. In these stories they observed society and life, reflected their pursuit for ideal female and marriage by constructing relation of male and female. Because literators expressed themselves by hero in these stories, so the heroes in these stories resembled those literators in the true-life. Therefore we can find out the tendency of value and unique psychology of T'ang literators.This discourse involves three parts of introduction, text and epilogue.Introduction: I expounded the general situation of T'ang novel and the cause of flourish of T'ang novel. Furthermore I simply reviewed the history and actuality of interrelated research. On this base I indicated the purpose, significance and primary research method of this text.The text involves three parts.In chapter one I discussed the relation of male and female in T'ang novel about marriage and love. I discussed two kinds of relations. The first is the kind of more desire and less love. In this kind, the literators seek satisfaction of desire, however they have less interest in love itself. The outcome of this relation usually is defeat. However in the second kind, the literators look for true love, and they pay sincere heart, but they primarily seek immaterial love so much as none target for marriage. This kind of relation is also gotten into bad outcomes.In chapter two, I discussed the conceptions about female of T'ang literators. In the open social culture, one the one hand T'ang literators hope females love them forwardly, and sacrifice all for the sake of love. One the other hand, they also hope females retain chastity, because of their traditional conception and the thought of androcentrism. So they run into the contradiction of reins and reason. They even design an ideal female image fused good friend, virtuous wife and good mother. But this female role merely cater for male desire, it is the outcome of the culture that take male as the center.In chapter three I discussed the conceptions about marriage and love of T'ang literators. In the stories about marriage and love, the outcomes are often defeats, but these stories presented their pursuit for ideal marriage. In this marriage, the relation of male and female is harmonious, reins coordinate with reason. I discussed their mentality pursuing after harmonious and balance from those cultural circumstance of that times.
