A Study On The Translation Of Tourist Guidance (from Chinese To English)

Tourist Guidance helps sightseers better enjoy places of historical interest and scenic beauty as well as folk customs and historic stories. Beautiful scenery is a feast for the eyes, so is good translation. However, it is undeniable that, sub-standard translations of Tourist Guidance contents are often found in translation of various kinds.Here, this paper is offered as a preliminary probe into the translation of Chinese Tourist Guidance. This thesis studies the translation of Chinese Tourist Guidance mainly through a categorically analytic approach. Tourist Guidance is an informative text with some vocative and aesthetic functions. Correspondingly, communicative translation is the most suitable translation method. Tourist Guidance carries its own characteristics in language and narrative methods. The writer believes that joint efforts are to be made to improve the translation of Tourist Guidance. This paper also puts forward workable translation methods to render Tourist Guidance in practice.
