In the middle of 20th century, with the emergence and development of computer network technology, webpage design, a brand-new form of artistic design, came into being and has been an extension of graphic design in modern society. Adopting a methodology of comparison, this paper will devote itself to a comparative research between webpage design and printed graphic design in the aspects of technique, from and style. Further discussion is made upon the value and significance of webpage design as a modern kind of graphic design given the development of modern science and technology.During the research, many similarities as well as disparities are discovered between webpage design and printed graphic design. The former as a newcomer is most favoured in the Internet Era, boasting unreplacable and unmatchable characteristics and advantages in comparison with the latter.Nevertheless the path of development for webpage design is not a smooth one due to the technological restriction that designing work in the first place could only be done by computer professionals. However, with the technology developing by leaps and bounds, now common people can also paticipate in webpage design. The public leads a major role in webpage design, the development of which is bound to be a multifold one and the form of which a versatile one.
