Virginia Woolf(1882—1941),is the most famous female writer in the Britain of the 20th century. She is also a great pioneer of the feminism history in the world. This paper, according to the domestic study situation about Virginia Woolf, discusses the modernity problem of Virginia Woolf's feminism thoughts which is mentioned by few people at present. Firstly, it explains clearly the concept of modernity in the part of time, and the development of modern feminism thoughts (mainly on liberal feminism) in the part of modernity from the end of the 18th century to the 1940s'. Then comparing with liberal feminism in the modernity part, this article studies Virginia Woolf's feminism thoughts: it is against the gender tradition as well as the feminism development tradition, and it also pays attention to the reality.
