Since the appearance of the classic literature masterpeice 《Journey to the West》 in the middle of 70s of the Ming Dynasty ,it has been loved by many people, especially the children, and has been the focus of many researchers. However, compared with the historical position of the original work ,the study to this phenomenon is not thorough enough. Although the《Journey to the West》isn't the children's literature work which creates specially for the children, but its tale color is very thick and has a strong tale spirit.Today, reading again this classic literature --- 《Journey to the West 》 , particularly from the angle of the tale esthetics, revealing its tale spirit in the work, exploring the mystery of the popularity of it among the the young readers , in particular , in order to expand 《Journey to the West 》 research of path, enrich the analysis method of the 《Journey to the West 》, understand better the thought and art of this strange book, and provide the theories and practices for the workers of children's literature to draw lessons from.This thesis constitutes four parts:" 《 Journey to the West 》 and its tale spirit", " 《Journey to the West 》 :Beautiful fantasyland"," the output mechanism of the tale spirit of the 《 Journey to the West 》" and" the value of the tale spirit of the 《 Journey to the West 》 ".The thesis starts from differentiating and analyzing the concept and characteristic of "tale", sums up the content of tale spirit in three points:game,child, imagination.Among them, the game is a premise, the child is a core, imagination is a means. The three constitutes the tale spirit in complement with each other into a organic whole, and in 《 Journey to the West 》 of the tale image, game details, tale language, have a detailed performance. As a kind of esthetics spirit, the tale spirit should bring the readers happy and active,keep the superbility and the quality of poem.This text starts from the author's growth and late Ming Dynasty society of philosophy, literature current of thought, analyzes further the possible output of this tale spirit, elaborates finally the tale spirit of 《Journey to the West 》 for the understanding of 《Journey to the West 》, the value of the child and children's literature.
