The modern Chinese fictions (from 1840 to 1919), the important part of the modern Chinese literature, intervene between classical fictions and contemporary ones. The development and prosperity of fictions in this period are obviously influenced by foreign fictions to a great extent while absorbing the nutritious elements from traditional culture and it is translated fictions through which foreign fictions influenced modern fictions.Based on the theory of comparative literature, the article attempts to analyze the changes of ideas, types, narrating methods, art technique etc. of the modern fictions through ways to research influence, after being impacted by translated fictions.The first part of the article depicts general situation of modern fictions and modern translated literature, and the relations between the two in the forms of three stages. The second part mainly disserts the formation changes of modern fictions after influenced by translated literature. About fiction position, fictions changed from"insignificant role"to"top role"in literature. About fiction type, political fictions, scientific fictions, detective fictions and educational fictions came up besides traditional fictions. About narrative patterns of fictions, narrative time, narrative angle and narrative structure changed greatly. About show technique, mental account, scenery account and deep expression of emotion appeard.
