This thesis mainly discusses the literature achievement and criticism of Zhangdai, the famous proser who lived in the several decades between Ming Dynasty and Qing Dynasty, which is bloody time for the literators, But, during this time, many literary talents appeared in such brutal political environment. This thesis is organized into the following parts:Part 1, "Preface", Beginning with a brief historical retrospect to the literature in the late Ming Dynasty, this part provides the overview of the motivation, research means, key issue to be discussed, and goal of this thesis.Part 2, "Main body", Three chapters with three theme will be discussed in this part. The first chapter gives the summary of Zhangdai's life and works in the time between Ming Dynasty and Qing Dynasty, including his achievement of literature. The second chapter takes you through Zhangdai's aesthetic theory on literature, including his animadvert on Cheng&Zhu's Theory, Zhangdai's outlook of writer and literature works, and the study of Zhangdai's theory on the unification of poem and painting. Giving the description of Zhangdai's outstanding achievement on prose, the third chapter is focus on the articles in his works: Tao An Meng Yi and Xi Hu Meng Xun. Part 3, "Conclusion", this part provides a brief conclusion of this thesis.
