What makes the morality possible? Based on the criticism and inheritance Kant, Schopenhauer points out morality originates from sympathy. Divided into four parts this paper makes a detailed analysis and introduction to Schopenhauer's "Theory of Sympathy".In part one it tells that through the criticism of Kant's morals, Schopenhauer negates the reason as morality's basis; and through the inheritance of Kant's morals he works out voluntarism which serves as a presupposition for the theory of sympathy.In part two it makes a detailed introduction of the content of "theory of sympathy". Abandoning Kant's transcendental methodology Schopenhauer figures out only sympathy can be the real motivation of moral behavior, as well as the unique source of all virtue of human beings.In part three with voluntarism it makes a metaphysic illustration to "Theory of Sympathy". In his voluntarism Schopenhauer considers that the world is representation of the voluntary. Though it is limited in the principal of individualization, the nature of the world is united. Seeing through the principal of individualization sympathy directly perceived through the unity of the will.In part four it analyzes the characteristics of "Theory of Sympathy". Apart from that, it indicated the instructed meaning of "Theory of Sympathy" to people in the aspect of content and methodology whenever at present or in the future.
