From Programmation To Channelization

Since the reform and open policy in 1980s, the industrialization property of TV industry appeared before the eyes of public and has been more and more obvious under the influence of socialist marketing economy. The media transmitting system has changed from the mass transmiting to various individual information providing according to audiance group. In this condition, the documentary in TV has also experienced the peroids of beginning, growing and flouring. The documentary transmiting platform which has changed from program to channel is just the result of this reformation. The available studies of documentary always emphasised the study of documentary texts but ignoring the influence of documenting consciousness and transmiting platform which is not only the external factor but also the structural means of documentary.According to the different transmiting methods and shooting ways, the development of documentary transmiting platform since 1980s is divided into three stages in this dissertation. The analysis of each stage starts from the new characteristics of the documentary under the social background to the summary of the shooting methods and finally analyse the inevitable crisis of documentary program. In the channelization time, documentary program finds its new spring in the market economy. In a word, the thesis chronologically unscrambling the history of documentary transmiting platform tries to take a new point of view to look into the development of Chinese TV documentary.
