With the development of linguistics, psychology and pedagogy, people are taking a new look at foreign language teaching, and grammar is also endowed with a new meaning, which reflects on a new linguistic conception. This new conception regards language not merely as a system of rules, but a tool for human communication. And accordingly, the traditional methods of teaching grammar should be reformed and the task-based teaching approach is advocated.On the other hand, Grammar is an indispensable aspect of language, among which, the subjunctive mood refers to the speaker's thought instead of facts. It expresses wishes, suggestions, and suppositions. The English subjunctive mood is not only very important for us to better understand English in various styles but also very helpful for us to do well in various English tests.Traditionally, grammar is taught by 3Ps approach, in which teachers first teach some grammatical rules, and then students try to remember these rules. This approach proves to be ineffective and gives both teachers and students much stress. A task-based approach is supposed to be an effective method in promoting learners' language competence.
