A Study About The Structure Of "V De/bu C"

"V de/bu C"is one of modern Chinese common expression forms of"possibility". Meng Cong's《Chinese verb usage dictionary》classifies it as an important function of the verb. But there is a few concern and study of the grammar about this structure at present. Generally, grammarians often discussing it as a part of complement of possibility. This text discuss the characteristic of"V"in the"V de/bu C"structure ,the complement in the structure of"V de/bu C", the semantic analysis of"V de/bu C",and we draw the following conclusions:1.The verbs Can enter"V de/bu C"structure is mostly monosyllable. They all possess the semantic feature of [+actiom]. Few adjectives Can enter"V de/bu C"structure .They all possess the semantic feature of [+ area condition].2.We distribute the"V de/bu C"structure to three forms according to the construction of the complement. Resultive possible complement"V de/bu C1",Tendency possible complement"V de/bu C2",Zero -form possible complement"V de/bu C3".The structure of"V de /bu C"usually choose the active adjectives but not the negative adjectives as complement. The semantic analysis of complement some point to agent, some point to object, the other point to"V".3. The structure of"V de/bu C"mostly possess possibility,not occur,estimability. Some have reality,already occur,evaluating.
