Jiangsu Kunshan locates in Jiangsu south-east, between Shanghai and Suzhou. Taicang City links with the north-east, it is at the junction of Wujiang and Suzhou in west, it is also adjacent to Changshu in North, and border Jiading, Qingpu of Shanghai in Southeast. Kunshan dialect, like Suzhou dialect and Shanghai dialect, is belong to the SuHuJia small plate in Taihu plate of Wu dialect, but these years studies on the northern Wu dialect mainly focus on Suzhou and Shanghai the two main representative points, so Kunshan dialect, the Suzhou people think that sounds like Shanghai dialect, while Shanghai people think that sounds like Suzhou dialect, has little research to date.The thesis bases on the author's mother tongue -- Kunshan dialect for study object, attempting to do a overall description of phonetic system, vocabulary , grammar for present situation in this region to explore Kunshan dialect features, and through the phonetic system of the history comparison, the history retrospect of vocabulary, and vertical correlation of grammar forms to search the historical evolution of Kunshan dialect.This thesis is divided into four parts. The first part is general of Kunshan, mainly introduces geographical history and population changes of Kunshan dialect. The second part is phonetic system, mainly describes phonetic system of Kunshan dialect, and the phonological features from the perspective of Kunshan lasted dialect by comparing Guangyun phonetic system and the Shengyunhuitong phonetic system in Ming Dynasty, and also describes the the differences reading of Kunshan words and the condition of two-word jointly modified tone. The third part is vocabulary, the part mainly describes the methods of combining words for Kunshan dialect, and listes the classified vocabulary of Kunshan dialect, listes characteristic commonly used words of Kunshan dialect, in addition to research 50 characters of Kunshan dialect. Part four is grammar, the thesis divides this part into morphology, syntax and example sentences of grammar three subsections. Morphology mainly introduces the grammar characteristics of notional words including noun, verb, adjective, quantity word, adverb and pronoun and function words including preposition, conjunction, auxiliary word and tone word. Syntax mainly describes the general word order of Kunshan dialect and some sentence types, and also compares the related sentence types from works of Wu dialect in Ming or Qing period. Example sentences of grammar listes 46 sentences of Kunshan dialect.
