| Culture is the soul of a city. In the 21st Century, the culture competence has become the dominant element in the competition among the nations. And the culture of a city has become the largest resource and capital in the strategic building and development process of a city. As an ancestral headstream of China and an historical city, XinXiang City is developing with steady steps. However, in this period, there are also many problems. How to preserve the unique regional culture and take advantage of it to help build the patent of the city, and improve the development of the whole city, has emerged as an key issue. But at this period of time in China, there is not any systematic theory in this field, neither is there any particular model which represents for all the cities.This article tries to analyze the present complexion and problems in the development pattern of this city, by the means of studying relevant theories regarding constructing practices and historical records of the city. Based on the study, I try to find out how to make the construction of a city with regard to its unique culture tradition and special character. The purpose of this, on the one hand, is to summon up the experiences during the practice of one city, and on the other hand, to help other cities find their own way.In respect of Urban culture theory, this article traces back to the beginning and later development of this field, and gives a new understanding of both the horizon of urban development practice and urban culture construction. In respect of Urban culture construction practice, this article analyzes the condition of Xinxiang City development actuality, and points out the problems and good practices based on its historical and cultural advantages. To overlook the theories and practice experiences of Xinxiang City, it not difficult to draw conclutions and find ways to help other cities build their unique city cultures based on their own advantages and avoid making mistakes for better development. |
