That Where Angels Fear to Thread and A Room with a View written by E.M.Forster use Italy as background express E.M.Forster' s special value conception of English middle class. As a writer living in rapid change time he felt deeply that the metal of English middle class was at the crisis edge. In the early two novels, he had try to find the path to change the state. By the large The two novels have not complicate details, which still inherit the style of tradition realism, but in the two novels E.M.Forster used several groups of binary opposition and symbology to express his concern of the life state of English middle class. The foreign life in Italy is just as a symbol provided for E.M.Forster to change the mental state of English middle class. In Italy the middle class not only recognized himself, but also found the exit of life. E.M.Forster hoped English middle class could leave boring life and get the truth of life with a new attitude after they had experienced in another culture background.The thesis tries to study E.M.Forster as a member of English middle class. Analyzing the mental state of English middle class through the several groups of binary opposition he put forward of the possibility of researching his own class' fate with the view of another race, rend, culture and rescue the ' bad heart in growth'.The thesis is composed of constitutes of four parts:In the first part, E.M.Forster' s value conception of English middle class is analyzed. English middle class is defined from the culture approbation of the class.
