The English historiography during the Renaissance time fills the transformation and the development. The historians during this time following the ancient Greece and Rome's historians, take them as the model to study the history. The English historiography pays more attention on human beings and returns to human's history from the god's history.The historiography of English Renaissance is divided into four stages. The first stage is the transitional stage form middle ages to the Renaissance period. During the second stage the first English humanism historian appeared. The third stage is the 16th century. The last stage is the 17th century. The English historiography at last marches into the modern times.The English Renaissance historiography made great strides and formed its own characteristic. Such as how to select the historical documents, how to study and write history. Historians paid great attention to the writing technique. They paid much attention to the analyzing materials, and used other knowledge to study history. They used humanism to analyze history and the national history has also been formed.The historiography of English Renaissance has had the noticeable influence to the English modern historiography. It also made great contributions to the English modern historiography.
