In order to take a general view of the Chinese dialect in Simao City, Yunnan Province, this paper conducts a case study by comparing the phonetics, vocabulary and grammar between Taiping Street and Tuqiao village. To make the data more scientific and correct, the author uses Speech Analyzer Software besides traditional methods of Chinese dialect research.This paper is composed of three parts as follows.The first part is phonetics. The phonetics system of town and country in Simao City is compared with that of mandarin and Guangyun book from the point of view of modern and historic time. The dialect of town and country in Simao City has the same consonants but slightly different in the parts and methods of pronunciation. There are a lot of snuffling vowels which is evolved from the ancient phonetics in town and country dialect. The country dialect lacks of [?u], [ i(ε|~)] and these two compound vowels are replaced by [eI], [i]. The town dialect has four tones but the village has three ones, which may be explained from the migration history of the Han nationality and the minority languages of Bulang and Wa nationalities.The second part is vocabulary. The author has collected 938 dialect words, which are different from mandarin words. And those dialect words are divided into 34 categories such as astronomy, geography, farming and so on. According to the collected words, 58.10 %, 5.22 %, 27.83 % and 8.85 % of which are same, different, similar and without existing each other between the town and county dialect, respectively.The third part is grammar. The dialect of town and country in Simao City shows a little difference in accidence and syntax. For one thing, the two dialects have the same word-superposed, and country dialect use less superposition in daily life but has more colorful usage and meaning than town dialect on accidence. For another, the two dialects have their own characteristics in sentences such as "gei" and "shi" and have other similar aspects in syntax.
