A value is a conception, explicit or implicit, distinctive of an individual or characteristic of a group, of the desirable which influences the selection from available modes, means and ends of action (Kluckhohn, 1951). Psychometrics theories are used in this research to compile a university students' value scale. Besides compiling value scale, the gender difference research of university students' values and the correlation research between values and personality are done in this research. This thesis is composed by six parts. The first part is a foreword. This part mainly introduces the background, content and significance of this research. And introduces some experts' researches on the definition, classifies and scales of values. The second part is compiling the university students' values scale. First is to read widely references to collect the preliminary value items. Second is to give open question to the university students, let them write down the important items besides the preliminary value items. Third is to integrate the preliminary value items and the result of open question to compile the first version of value scale. Then use the Cluster Analysis, Exploratory Factor Analysis and Confirmatory Factor Analysis to integrate and delete the value items to compile the finally version of university students values scale. This scale includes 8 dimensions, 75 items. Dimension 1: Morals and compassion. Dimension 2: Diligently. Dimension 3: Wisdom. Dimension 4: Fame and gain. Dimension 5: Balance and harmonious. Dimension 6: Affection. Dimension 7: E-orientation. Dimension 8: Social values. The third part is quality analysis of the university students' value scale. The indicators in this scale show that the scale has high reliability and validity and good discrimination, and the indicators of each item are also ideal.
