The Research About Cognition Of Metaphor Rhetoric

Traditional research of metaphor concentrates on metaphor structure, function and the relationship to rhetoric. Using theories of modern cognitive linguistics and psychology, combined with Chinese examples, metaphor is dynamically studied from cognitive and psychological point of view so that metaphor can be known in much more all-round and deeper way. From cognitive point of view, by analyzing the process of metaphor construction and understanding, the conclusion can be got that metaphor is a cognitive action and a thinking model. Cognition plays a very important role in metaphor construction and understanding and exists in the metaphor process from beginning to the end. In this paper, cognitive laws of production and expression are summed up. Choosing metaphor to study from cognitive and psychological point of view not only has theoretical value but also practical results.
