A Study Of Scattered Poems During Pre-Qin Dynasty

Although the studies of Pre-Qin scattered poems has more than 2000 years, it is subject to the investigation of the Book of Songs comparing with the studies of the Book of Songs before 20th century. The scholars' studies of the scattered poems are mainly limited to the compilation and the purpose of the research on explaining the questions just as "whether the scattered poems were cancelled by Confucius" and "the relationship between poems and music" etc. The scattered poems have been studied as an independent object from 20th century. However, they have different opinions on the definition of the scattered poems. By now, the category of the scattered poems can't be ascertained and recognitions are different from each other. On the basis of the previous studies, the writer attempts to explore the scattered poems from three parts.Part one. Making a thoroughly analysis of the history of the scattered poems studies. The study history is divided into four periods. The first is from Han to Tang dynasty, which is the germination of the study; The second is Song dynasty, Yuan dynasty and Ming dynasty, which is the development of the study; The third is Qing dynasty, which is the climax of the study; The forth period is from 20th century to now, which is the multianalysis period of the scattered poems. The characteristics and the main achievements of each period are summarized in order to present the connotation of the scattered poems in history, and then, a relatively objective reference criterion to define the Pre-Qin scattered poems is put forward.Part two. Discussing the compilation of the the Book of Songs and the formation of the scattered poems and pointing out that the scattered poems are the poems which were edited out along with the compiling of the the Book of Songs.
