The Research Of Donghan's Dou Family

The Donghan dynasty is a regime which depends on the well-known influential families. No matter the foundation of the dynasty or in the 200-year developmental process,these families had been acting as the important role.The Dou family is an illustrious family in the age of Donghan dynasty which had produced a marked effect. This paper follows a clue of the Dou family's vicissitudes and inspects what important effect had the family produced to the Donghan dynasty in different periods. The essay falls into three parts:Firstly, Dou Rong operated the Hexi area between Xihan and Donghan. In order to assure the stability of the Hexi area,he adopted some active measures in nationality, economy and military affairs to make the Hexi area keep stable development. After the Gengshi regime failed, Dou Rong gave the Hexi area to Guangwu emperor and helped him to unify the whole nation. Because of the great contribution to the new dynasty,the political position of Dou family had been settled. But Dou family declined for a time because the members of the family had done some unlawful acts. Secondly, Dou Xun's daughter was crowned to be an empress by Hanzhang emperor. The dou family entered in the Donghan's political stage again after 10-year silence. At the same time, the family had turned into a power group.After Hanzhang emperor died,the young Hanhe emperor succeeded. The Dou empress governed the nation as a regent and her brother Dou Xian assisted the affairs of the government as a general. The Dou family was the first dictatorial family as the empress's relatives in Donghan dynasty. Afterwards, Dou Xian was killed and the Dou family was seriouly wounded again. Thirdly, after two deeply strikes the Dou family came on the political stage in the end of Donghan dynasty. It tried to save the general satuation from the worsening but failed at last.Taking a sweeping look at the Donghan dynasty,many important events had close relationship with Dou family. If considered the influential families's effect on Dongh- an dynasty,maybe no one can be more than Dou family. A family is worth affirming if it had positive effect on the regime's stabability and development of society.
