| This research which builds on the former studies makes a painstaking description to the integration progress of VC valence, the different styles of entering the verb-copying construction,"ba"zi construction and"bei"zi construction in modern Chinese. And it analyzes the distributing differences reasons of the different styles of VC that exists in these three constructions. The theory of valence and the correlated theory of pragmatics are used in this research. The main contents are as follows:(一) The valence situation of VC is complex. It is not equal to the valence number of V and C; also it is not equal to simply pulse the two. It is a conformity process of the two elements. Its characteristics may summarize as follows:1. The subject argument of VC should be preferential to the subject argument of V;2. The object argument of VC should be preferential to the object argument of C;3. The object argument of V doesn't appear usually. But in the peculiar circumstances, like "gets drunk ","teaches to cry ","church class", etc. In this kind of VC, the object argument or the subordinate argument of V can appear;4. In the VC the valence number of V always is bigger than or equal to the valence number of C;5. The situation of V~1+C~2, V~1+C~3, V~2+C~3 and V~3+C~3 do not exist.(二)Because there are some rules for entering the verb-copying construction ,"ba"zi construction and"bei"zi construction , the assessment to different sentence patterns in different situations is also different according to the different valence number VC。We do detailed analysis for the assessment to the three situations of VC, which we have introduced.(三)Through the inspection of different valence VC's distributed situation in the related sentence patterns, we think it is the language uses that creates this distribution characteristics. The pragmatics reason that VC forms Verb-copying is to emphasize the object argument of V. the pragmatics reason that VC forms"ba"zi constructions is to put the focus behind. |
