Since 90's in 20 centuries, the interior design of minimalism have been becoming gradually one of the popular styles with compact shape, pure space and ingenious structure nowadays, caused to the colony of design and critique have attention to extensively it. In the 60's in 20 centuries, it was the important key that the movement of minimal art and modernistic design had gone together.The design of minimalism emphasizes "less is more", It reflects impersonally and objectly the essential attribute of something, through simple forms and brushing off the whole excrescent and futility element. It makes element of design secreted high tech and perfect geometrical forms. The interior design of minimalism contains regarding the internal quantity of space, molding to the pure body, characteristic of material, artistically using light. Therefore, this researching minimalism by the numbers redound to that we can understand more deep connotation of culture of it and more use its skill on practice.My dissertation systemically and widely research to the theory about the interior design of minimalism. This dissertation on starting analyses characteristic of minimalism on different artistic field on sculpture, painting, music, literature etc and newly define the concept of minimalism on interior design. Then, three parts of this dissertation analyses the interior design of minimalism. At the first part, I analyses the connotation of spirit of minimalism on philosophy, religion, culture and expound how the interior design of minimalism take on this thought by material examples. At the second part, I use classified method to discuss interior design skill classified by material examples. It is the keystone of the whole dissertation. At the third part, I forecast that the digital science and technology could influence development of the interior design of minimalism by relation of interchange of design and culture and science and technology. At the same time, I point characteristic of elite in the design of minimalism. In the end, on the base of front several parts, I sum up value to the interior design of minimalism by myself. And I also calculate to existent significance of it and infection to development of the interior design in China nowadays.
