Following the economic globalization and rapid urbanization process and the development of west China , economy has greatly improved in Xi'an since 1986. As a result, speed of the modern city is faster and faster and the scale is larger and larger, at the same time, the problem is more and more obvious too, such as traffic jam, environment pollution, old city reformation and protection problem of history relic. As a core of the city, the problem is particularly serious in city center district. In order to maintain the normal operation and develop of city center district, we need to study city center district to develop continually.Xi'an is a single core centre district structure. With the deepening of the practice of centre district and exploration of theory constantly, the direction of development on the city centre district should be proceed from overall, systematic, scientific and developmental idea and we should probed a mode that as well can help the city centre district oneself to be expanded as can optimizes economy, society, environment of city centre district.The main modes of development on city centre districts have been summed up through analyzing and summarizing the domestic and international gain and lose of city centre district following the basic principals that modern city upgrades development. Then as a example of development and evolvement of Xi'an city centre district, the existing problems of the city center district of Xi'an were investigated and analyzed and it's confine form function, landscape and boundary were stipulated. On the basis of analyzing the function evolvement and structure evolvement of Xi'an city centre district, a functional orientation was given as a traditional CBD about development of Xi'an city centre district, and it's direction of development is RBD in the future.
