The merchant community in the Ming Dynasty had many characteristics compared with the previous dynasty: the overall population had sharp increase;the gentleman officials join the merchant group, who eagerly anticipate social activities \care the populace's live, participate politics activity and so on. These characteristics are especially prominent in the later period of the Ming Dynasty. From the social background, the merchant no longer imprisoned the previous lifestyle, they eagerly were changing the social populace's expense idea, which manifested what the Ming Dynasty's thinkers had advocated Self- spirit. As a part of the city inhabitants, their lives constituted the common prospects of the city life, which became the basic material of the Ming Dynasty literature. Simultaneously, the merchants through their occupations affected the entire society. And the merchants also changed the former business ideas: they positively became friends with the upper officials and intelligent;they at tented the society current politics and supported the mass organization of the society. All had displayed the unprecedented responsibility of the social sense and the self- cognition feeling. Simultaneously, the merchants also positively participated in the folk rescue , the charity organization, whose characteristics are more common. All in all, the merchants, regional alchemist persons and the gentry undertakes outstanding social roles in later Ming Dynasty. As the residential representative's merchant, their activity had reflected at that time the residential social stratum essential feature, that was to the individuality pursue with to free yearning for, but these modern times consciousness sprouting, are precisely China "in the tradition vicissitude" the early performance.
