Philosphical Thought In Art Design

Philosophy is the summary of specific science, thinking and socialknowledge. It plays the enlightening and guiding role of universalmethodology in the social, scientific and cultural development. With the helpof philosophic thinking method, we can grasp art design holistically andessentially, not limited to some partial aspects of problems in design domain.After understanding Chinese and foreign philosophy compatibly anddialectically, this paper, from the angle of dialectic materialism,systematically summarizes the epistemology and methodology of Chinese andforeign philosophy thinking which have remarkable guiding value for artdesign, and to guide art design.The principle of the world materiality and art design practicability ofdialectical materialism decides the practical and realistic thought route andworking method of art design. Materialistic dialectics emphasizes that theworld is universally connected and that we must observe,analyze and handleproblems in relational and overall viewpoint during the design. The worlddevelops eternally and the vitality of art design lies in the continual creation.Art design is a system generated by opposite matters. There existsuniversally the relation of unity of opposite between two things, such asproblem and solution, content and form, human and environment, etc. Themethod of contradictory analysis is the fundamental method to know thematter, which has significant guiding meaning for the design.The designer must reflect continually their own social responsibility andbasic missions by means of high philosophic thinking.
