The problem of "literary self-consciousness" is important in the research of literary history in 20th century. Since it was brought forward by Lingmuhuxiong and Luxun, it has been a hotspot in our research. In the early days of 1990s, there was an extensive discuss on this topic. So, as a case study, it is very representative. This paper is arranged to begin with the academic background of the appearance of the problem, and deduce its connotation by analyzing the concepts. At last, we can establish our standard and apply it into literary historical facts. The purpose of the first chapter is to review the history of the study on the problem of "literary self-consciousness". In penman's opinion, Zhangtaiyan, Etc pioneered in development of the object. Wangyao and Lizehou swerved it into the study of human nature. In 1990s, the research of "literary self-consciousness" reached its climax. The second chapter analyses the concept of "literary self-consciousness". First of all, through the deep study of literary history and literary criticism based on conception, we present the odditional properties which the concepts should own themselves. Then, as the concepts discrimination of literature and self-consciousness, we establish the point of the concepts and the connotation of the core. Further more, we review the standards of "literary self-consciousness" which was built up before. The third chapter sets up specific criteria, and analyzes the temporal borderline of "literary self-consciousness" from ontology and the theory of main body. Ontology is the self-reflection for literary noumenon, which should expand from two parts, omnibus literature conception and idiographic style conception. The theory of main body is the self-reflection for the relationship of object and subject. The investigation for styles and talents, sceneries and feelings, words and meanings, represents the beginning that people taste the mysterious and glamorous relations between writer and writing on their own initiative.
