In the period between 1949 and 1966, the historic task of Chinese revolution was completed in the reality, but with a view to the consolidation of newborn regime and setting of the national image, "the revolution" is defined as leading direction for all new literature. Under this circumstance, the movie, as an artistic form possessing the most mass and universal propaganda effect, was attached much importance by the government. "17 Years' Movies"(movies from 1949-1966) as a form of literature serves the politics, workers, peasants and soldiers. The principle 'Political standard comes first and artistic standard second' was taken as criticism standard. As to "17 Years' Movies " produced with these backgrounds, the entertainment property would be neglected by the audience.At that time," 17 Years' Movies " met people's need in the subject spirit and the selected topic. They satisfied the newly liberated toiling masses' various kinds of psychology and caused the audience feel sympathetic chord in the shallow layer as well as the deep level. They manifested the proposition that "the revolutionary political content to unify with the perfect artistic form as far as possible ". Moreover, they embodied the rich entertainment of "17 Years' Movies ". The first and the second parts of this essay have carried on the analysis to the relations between the movies' basic attribute and the movie entertainment property. What's more, they have also elaborated the primitive and modern entertainment property in the "17 Years' Movies " with rich illustration.Grounding on Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs, this essay elaborates the audience's shallow level esthetic demand and deep level esthetic demand towards "17 Years' Movies " and proves the existence of the entertainment property in the "17 Years' Movies ". Affected by the background of "17 Years' Movies ", none of the artists can pursue the art in their eyes without the influence of politics. All the movies must serve for politics while many works were filmed for the political need. Therefore, the artistic vitality is not lasting. The fourth part of this essay reviews the entertainment property of "17 Years' Movies" and analyses the limitation in the entertainment property of "17 Years' Movies " as well as its rooting.
