| This dissertation introduces the theories of Performance Studies into art of singing. It demonstrates that singers should grasp some theories of Performance Studies and use them into their singing, which could help them make great progresses. There are three chapters in this dissertation: 1. the usage of theories of Performance Studies in 'training singing techniques';2. the usage of theories of Performance Studies in 'analyzing the vocals';3. the usage of theories of Performance Studies in 'singing practices'.Chapter 1This chapter introduces 'the memory of feelings' and 'non-object oriented art practice', two approaches in Performance studies, to the singing training. STANISLAWSKI 's theories " the first ego" and" the second ego" are referred to illustrate their practicability in art of singing. The author insists that the art of singing is the dialectic of contradiction and unification between 'emotion' and 'sense';'experience' and 'expression'.Chapter 2This chapter mainly discusses the 'capability of performing vocals'. Firstly,use 'the capability of comprehension' to observe and analyze vocalsSecondly, use 'imagination' to grasp the emotion and scene of vocals. Thirdly, use 'expressive force' to present vocals' meaning in intention.Chapter 3This chapter focuses on training singers' style for the purpose of helping them present 'vivid' singing. There are five key issues demonstrated here 'release' 'the sense of propriety' 'communication' 'intuition' and ' inspiration'. |
