Ceramic art, as an important part of human culture, its significance has been recognized by more and more people. China is the hometown of Ceramics, and the succession of ceramic culture contributes much to the development of human history and civilization. For the succession of ceramic art, the function of education is most significant, and just through ceramic education, ceramic culture, ceramic arts and crafts, skills have been passing from one generation to another. Confronted with the globalization of culture and economics, Chinese ceramic art education and the global ceramic art education are being influenced mutually, and being closely linked together.The development of Chinese traditional and modern ceramic art and ceramic art education has been explored in this research. On this basis, the conception of ceramic art education in China, Japan and the United States of America was comparatively analyzed, and a new concept of Chinese ceramic art education was advanced. This new education concept is a comprehensive system of theories, consisting of nationalism, subject, rationality and the technical practice. These theories influence and penetrate each other, and form the theory system of Chinese modern ceramic education conception.Ceramic education in colleges and professionals educated in these colleges is the main force to promote the development Chinese ceramic art. The ceramic art education conception, teaching ways and means, curricula arrangement and characteristics of some colleges, which are unique in ceramic art education, are investigated in details. Research show that modern ceramic art education in colleges emphasize the subject consciousness of students, seeking all sorts of conceivable change ways,the inner relation of various things, varieties of relevant means for study purposely, through trying to expound multi-ply sense and various possibility of design freely;But as concerning college ceramic art education of China at present, there also exist some insufficiencies in teaching system, cultural language and employment-obtaining system, etc.Ceramic art education is an important part of aesthetic education. Ceramic art derives from the traditional culture of various countries, and visual thinking achievement of global nations. For tens of thousands years, ceramic art has been recording the history of human civilization and development, through profound cultural details and dignified history vestige which are being borne by ceramic art. So, ceramic art education has the function of disposition education, such as moral character education, humanities thought education, building up personality, edifying sentiment and developing intellectuality, etc.
