| The great master of French films, Francois Truffaut, was born in Paris 1932. He wasregarded as one of the initiators of the new tide of French films. He also got a fine name asthe " mad director". In his twenty-five year career, he produced 25 films. He was dead in 1984,and he got the shortest producing life in all the directors in the new tide. Like Godal, he was alegend. He opened a new road for the fans of films. What he produced is taken as a milestoneof the new tide. His films got a different feature in the cultural connotation, narrative structureand the shot technique. The unique theme and style brought Truffaut a glorious achievement.His films can be divided into four periods. They are the chronological films, the imitation ofHichekoce, the exploration of black film and the return of humanism. This four period can belinked by his profound philosophical connotation and the tendency of psychological analysis.It expressed the attachment of mother, the infatuation for woman, the reverse of tradition, thecriticism of society and the introspect of life. He applied a wide opened narrative structureand then mixed his emotions and plot in a complicated environment. He portrayed a series ofvivid characters. By using these techniques, he created a tense dramatic atmosphere andconflict. Films were the embodiment of his mind and emotion , and his love and sentimentwere proved by them. |
