The Song of the Colorful Robe and Feather Clothes is an outstanding and uniquemasterpiece among Tang Daqus (a form of song and dance in the court of Tang Dynasty). Itconsists of three parts, San Xu (prose-prelude), Zhong Xu(middle-prelude) and Po (broaching)by integrating the features of Buddhism and Taoism together on the basis of Chinesetraditional songs and dances.As per an analysis of this masterpiece from four perspectives including retrieval of therelated historical documents, this paper reached a conclusion that it was originated fromreligious arts and foreign arts. By analyzing the diversification of its artistic expressive forms,cultural factors and aesthetical mode from the standpoint of music, this masterpiece is foundinclusive of many cultural elements like politics, religion, compatibility, comprehensivenessand entertainment. The paper digs out the realistic significance based on the fourcharacteristic forms (impressive manner, ornamentation, realism and formality) andpeace-dominated artistic conception created by the masterpiece in the sense of aestheticalmode.Four research methods were used primarily in the study;they were literature retrieval,textual research, music research and comparative method.
