Text Reconstruction And Gender Narration

The story "Farewell, concubine", after separating from the historical document ShiJi, has become an independent literary theme, and many times'traditional rewriting made it one of the indispensable sutras of Chinese literature history. Referring to the gender narration theory and combining with text narrative patterns and the gender of the tellers, the paper analyzes the gender and its construction course of Yuji in the stories. There are two reasons for focusing on the identity construction of Yuji: on one hand, the study of the stories of "Farewell, concubine"has feeble research in theory, and rarely in gender analyses in the identity construction of Yuji; on the other hand, using the academic tool to review the text narrative patterns and the gender of the tellers, can help us know more clearly about the relationship between text reconstruction and women's identities. Firstly, from the angle of demonstration, this paper confirms Yuji's primary identity in traditional culture context by differentiating and analyzing all parlances of the death of Yuji. Secondly, by selecting and reading classical texts, and combining gender narration theory, it describes how the texts produced female gender, in the other word, how the social identity of Yuji was constructed. Finally, it analyzes the essential reasons of the identity construction of Yuji as the representative of confucian women and her self-identity by the intertextuality of text and history-culture context. So we draws a conclusion: The identity of Yuji is a result of the collusion between ideology and discourse practice under the special culture and system. From the relationship between the history of texts'development and culture context, the paper studies the stories of "Farewell, concubine"in all-aroud way both synchronically and diachronically. But from the arrangement of the narration, the article mainly demonstrates the evolvement procession of Yuji in the mother-theme "Farewell, concubine"and cultural reason behind the history by demonstration, explanation and culture aesthetic.
